Data is at the core of our platform, from ingesting financial data, augmenting data through ML & GenAI, to exposing core datasets for financial decision-making. To help us build out our data capabilities we're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Data.

At Palm, data is at the foundation of everything we do. We're building a sophisticated application that helps enterprises make smarter financial decisions. You will get the opportunity to build data foundations that power embedded analytics dashboards, a ML-powered forecasting engine, and GenAI capabilities. This role is not about maintaining existing data pipelines, it's about building the future of our data infrastructure. You'll work directly with our leadership team to define our data strategy, establish best practices, and create the foundation for our data-driven products.

You'll be working side by side with product, ML engineers, and customer operations, with a clear path to technical leadership as we scale.

How will you make an impact?

• Build and manage our data platform infrastructure through infrastructure as code and support other engineers in their data & infra needs.
• Design foundations that help us build scalable data pipelines using tools like Airflow, Pubsub and Cloud Run on GCP.
• Set up and manage data integrations using tools like Airbyte, dltHub to power integrations for various financial data sources.
• Build-out and scale our data warehouse in BigQuery, creating the foundation for all our analytics and ML use cases.
• Establish engineering best practices including version control, CI/CD, testing, and reusable frameworks.

Where we work

Palm is a remote-first company, with team members across multiple locations. We value flexibility and believe the best work often happens outside the office.

That said, this is a core technical role. To build our data platform collaboratively and support each other in a high-growth environment, we'll have regular in-person sessions with the engineering team and founders. We'll work together to determine the right cadence that supports both flexibility and collaboration.

Our wish list

Must-haves

• 5+ years in a software or data engineering role with strong data infrastructure affinity.
• Proficiency in Python since it powers a significant amount of our data processing.
• Deep expertise in at least parts of a batch oriented data stack, e.g.
  • Orchestration: Airflow (preferred), Dagster, or Temporal
  • Data processing: Polars, Spark or DuckDB
  • Data ingestion: Airbyte, Fivetran, or dltHub
  • Data warehousing: BigQuery, Clickhouse, or Snowflake
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), infrastructure as code, and cloud cost optimisation.
• Track record of building data infrastructure that serves both analytics, ML and GenAI use cases.
• Startup mindset: Ability to work with ambiguity, make pragmatic decisions, and balance immediate needs with future scale.
• Strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently but also collaboratively drive projects to completion.

Nice-to-haves

• Domain knowledge in fintech, financial data, or banking systems.
• Having worked in an infrastructure or DevEx related role such as Data Platform Engineer, DevEx Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer.
• Experience with the Go programming language.
• Experience as a founding or early engineer at a startup.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and real-time data processing.
• Contributions to open-source data tools or communities.
